Digital X-Ray
Digital X-Rays are quickly becoming the standard in dental imaging. Digital x-rays allow the doctor to get a much better view of your teeth and potential dental conditions. The digital imaging software allows the doctor to see a number of different views of the tooth to gain a better understanding of the proper course of management.
Digital x-rays provide a great benefit to the patient. Not only are they an excellent diagnostic tool, but they decrease radiation to the patient by over 80 percent!
Every patient room in our office has a monitor so that you can discuss the findings with Dr. Han.
Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras are an excellent means of allowing the patient to view potential dental conditions in their own mouth.
It is much easier to understand what is happening in your mouth if you can see the problem on a computer monitor. This digital image can be utilized to provide information to insurances and other doctors if necessary.
Rotary Endodontic
Rotary Endodontic, or root canal, is a method in which the doctor utilizes an electric hand piece to perform the procedure.
The electric hand piece allows the doctor to clean and shape the canals faster than using hand files and because it is electric, there is no drill noise. This makes the whole treatment experience much more pleasant.
Electric Hand Pieces
There are basically two types of hand pieces, air-driven and electric. Electric hand pieces are much stronger than air-driven due to the fact that a motor is spinning the bur as opposed to air.
This allows the doctor to remove decay at a faster pace. This will cut down on the time it takes to complete a procedure.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is a sweet smelling, non-irritating, colorless gas which you can breathe. It has been the primary means of sedation in dentistry for many years.
Nitrous Oxide is safe; the patient receives 50-70% oxygen with no less than 30% nitrous oxide.
The patient is able to breathe on their own and remain in full control of all bodily functions.
While using nitrous oxide the patient may experience mild amnesia and may fall asleep, not remembering all of what happened during their appointment.
Advantages to Using Nitrous Oxide:
-
- The depth of sedation can be altered at any time to increase or decrease sedation.
- There is no after effect such as a “hangover”.
- Inhalation sedation is safe with no side effects on your heart and lungs, etc.
- Inhalation sedation is very effective in minimizing gagging.
- It works rapidly as it reaches the brain within 20 seconds. In as little as two to three minutes it’s relaxation and pain killing properties develop.
Reason to Not Use Nitrous Oxide
Though there are no major contraindications to using nitrous oxide, you may not want to use it if you have emphysema, exotic chest problems, M.S., a cold, or other difficulties breathing.
